What We Do

Leadership in action.

Cool Girls’ mission is to empower Atlanta girls by breaking the cycle of poverty, low self-esteem and teen pregnancy.

COOL GIRLS CLUB

As our flagship initiative, the Cool Girls Club is a weekly after-school program for girls in 2nd to 8th grade. Our programs provide academic support, life-skills development, physical fitness and nutrition programs and exposure to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Students are taught by volunteers, staff and school personnel, on topics impacting girls like puberty, self-esteem and conflict resolution.

COOL SCHOLARS

To truly empower our girls to change their world, education must be at the forefront of our focus. From offering college tours to financial literacy and exam preparation, we provide the support they need to say “yes” to a higher education—the key to which is funding. That’s why over the past twenty-five years, Cool Girls has awarded more than $75,000 in scholarships to participants attending colleges and universities. Cool Girls who participated during elementary and/or middle school are eligible for the Cool Scholars program.

COOL SISTERS

Our one-on-one program has matched over 1,000 Cool Girls with caring adult role models that serve as positive influences in their lives. These unique relationships provide motivation and inspire the Cool Girls to strive for excellence. Cool Sister volunteers spend an average of 2,000 mentoring hours with their mentees, creating lasting bonds that truly change lives. Learn more about volunteering to be a Cool Sister.
