This year’s Beautiful Me workshop was full of computer coding, robotics, and electromagnetism and took place at the Technology capital of the South…GA Tech! Using markers, magnets and computer code, girls directed robots through a maze they created. Volunteers from Women in Technology hosted a “hack-a-thon” where participants worked to create a computer app; while Georgia Power taught how electricity was created.
In the afternoon Mr. Sci-Guy from Fun Weird Science taught how to create elephant toothpaste and slime. From thermodynamics to energy and chemistry, girls were able to experiment with items they use everyday. During our finale, participants were presented with Girl Power awards. This prestigious honor is awarded once per year to eight girls who excel academically, display excellent citizenship and are ambassadors for Cool Girls in their schools and communities.
A very cool thanks to our sponsors who provided the contents of the “tech bags” received by each of the 150 Cool Girls in attendance: Georgia Power, Lockheed Martin, UPS, and SunTrust Bank.
